Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli have had some heated moments on the field when they have played against each other. However, when a former Pakistan cricketer called Kohli a ‘deserter’ for not playing the Asia Cup, Gambhir was ready with a savage response.

Former Pakistan cricketer Tanvir Ahmed attacked Virat Kohli for his decision to not play the Asia Cup 2018 and called him a ‘deserter’ during a TV debate.

Gautam Gambhir was quick to reply and destoryed ahmed with his comment.

Kohli, who was troubled with a bad back during the recently concluded Test series in England, decided to take a rest and skip the six-nation tournament.

Tanvir Ahmed took a dig at Kohli and questioned his commitment. He said that if he can play in England despite being injured, then Kohli should’ve also played the Asia Cup too. He went on to claim that Kohli 'ran away' to escape playing Pakistan.

“Meri nazar mein Virat Kohli bhaag gaye hain. England ki wo poori series khele. England ki Test series mein unko back ka problem hua, uske baad bhi wo matches khele. Jab ek player apne mulk ke liye England ki series khel sakta hai, toh jab usko pata hai Asia Cup jitna bada event aa raha hai, toh jab wo England series survive kar sakta hai toh Asia Cup bhi survive kar sakta hai. Mere mulk ke matches Pakistan ke khilaaf hone hain, ek baar nahi teen baar, toh aise bhaag jaana,” Tanvir said on ABP News.

Gautam Gambhir, who was part on the discussion, questioned Tanvir's stature to make such comments about Kohli.

“Virat Kohli has 35-36 centuries to his name. He (Tanvir) doesn’t even have 35 international matches to his name,” he said.

India, without Virat Kohli, cruised to 8-wicket victory against Pakistan on Wednesday.
