After six long weeks of on-field hatred and verbal barbs, Australia and England players came together to unwind and have a beer at The Oval.
Photos have emerged as Aussie captain Tim Paine’s side walked into the English dressing room at the end of the fifth Test of the Ashes after England’s 135-run victory. They were welcomed by rival skipper Joe Root and coach Trevor Bayliss.
A photo, captured by England and Wales Cricket Board head of communications Danny Reuben, showed David Warner sharing a drink with Jonny Bairstow and Jack Leach.
Pat Cummins had a chinwag with Chris Woakes and Steve Smith alongside Sam Curran.
“This is what it’s all about,” Reuben wrote on Twitter. “The cut and thrust of Ashes cricket. Let’s just have a beer and reminisce. Why cricket is the best!”

The series was dramatic, controversial and hard-fought with Matthew Wade exchanging heated words with English quick Jofra Archer to Ben Stokes calling Aussie opener David Warner “a f***ing prick” on the way off the field.
However, all the rivalry came to an end with both teams showing the spirit of cricket when they came together in those dressing rooms to celebrate the official end of hostilities.
England won the final Test at sealing a consolatory 2-2 draw after Australia already retained the Ashes at Old Trafford.
