Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday found itself embroiled in controversy when majority of its Board of Governors (BoG) members took a rebellion route to upstage PCB chief Ehsan Mani’s ambitious plans on revamping the cricketing structure in the country.

The 53rd meeting of the PCB Board of Governors was adjourned for a later date due to an incomplete quorum after five of the seven present members staged a walkout.

With the ICC World Cup just weeks away, former Pakistan captain and legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram has voiced his disappointment with the board.

He came out in defence of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Managing Director Wasim Khan and said, “Disappointed over what happened in PCB BoG meeting today. All teams are preparing for Cricket World Cup 2019 and we’re busy in other arguments. Let’s see what reaction Prime Minister Imran Khan gives”.

As per reports, majority members of the BoG rejected the appointment of Wasim Khan as managing director. In a resolution written, the members demanded that MD Wasim Khan’s “appointment and the unconstitutional post of MD PCB be declared null and void.”

However, Wasim Akram said that “Wasim Khan must be given one chance.”

The resolution forwarded by the members stated “any move to abolish departments and regions in the restructuring of domestic cricket” and demanded the formation of a Domestic Cricket Restructuring Committee (DCRC) to draw up proposals for domestic restructuring, to be presented at a special BoG meeting on April 30 in Lahore.”
