The virus has brought all sports activities to a halt and players are practising social distancing and self-isolation during the pandemic.

Speaking on the topic of will the highly anticipated tournament be called off due to the pandemic, Mani claimed that no final decisions have been made just yet.

“There has not been any discussion on the matter yet. Nothing has been decided,” Mani was quoted saying by Sportstar.

“We haven’t decided on a date for the meeting either. The ACC is monitoring the situation and will take a call accordingly,” Mani added.

This year around, PCB had the hosting rights for the Asia Cup which is also a much-speculated reason why the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) were highly sceptical about sending their players over to Pakistan.

Even though ACC chief, Nazmul Hasan Papon is yet to give his reaction over the foreseeable future of the tournament, an official assured that a meeting will be held when the pandemic situation across the globe improves.

“At this point in time, cricket is the last thing in anyone’s mind. But the member nations and the ACC are keeping an eye on how things go. There is still some time left for the Asia Cup, so a meeting on that could only be held once the situation improves,” the official clarified.

The rapid spread of Coronavirus worldwide has started seeing its serious impacts.

Worldwide, coronavirus cases continue to rise dramatically, with the number of infections crossing 7 lakh on Sunday. The global death toll has crossed the 33,000 mark.
