IPL 2021 Auction: 1097 players including S Sreesanth register, Mitchell Starc not in list

The IPL Auction will begin from 3 PM onwards and the player's list incorporates 207 capped, 863 uncapped and 27 Associate players.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 Auction which is all set to take place in Chennai on 18th February saw 1097 players (814 Indian and 283 overseas players) signed up to be a part of the 14th edition.

The IPL Auction will begin from 3 PM onwards and the player's list incorporates 207 capped, 863 uncapped and 27 Associate players.

Mitchell Starc is not among the 42 players from Australia in the list of players registered. When it comes to Indian player's, S Sreesanth, who is back after completing his ban, is in the list.

The number of players from different categories:

Capped Indian (21 players)

Capped International (186 players)

Associate (27 players)

Uncapped Indian players who have played at least 1 IPL match (50 players)

Overseas uncapped players who have played at least 1 IPL match (2 players)

Uncapped Indians (743 players)

Uncapped International (68 players) 

If every franchise were to have a maximum of 25 players in their squad, 61 players will be taken in the auction (of which up to 22 may be overseas players).

Teams are allowed a maximum of 25 players each: Royal Challengers Bangalore (13), Kings XI Punjab (9), Rajasthan Royals (8) and Knight Riders (8) have the highest number of slots left, while Sunrisers Hyderabad (3) has the least.

Out of the 283 overseas players registered the maximum was from West Indies with 56, followed by 42 from Australia. There were also 38 from South Africa, 31 from Sri Lanka, 29 from New Zealand and 21 from England.

There are 9 from UAE, 8 from Nepal, 7 from Scotland, 5 from Bangladesh and 2 each from Ireland, USA, Zimbabwe and a lone player from the Netherlands rounded off the list.
