'Orange is the new Blue': Team India to debut Orange jersey against Windies? All you need to know
There have been many reports that the Orange jersey may debut in the West Indies vs India match on June 27.
According to the ICC, colour options were handed over to BCCI and they chose what they felt went best with the colour combination. The whole idea is to be different as England also wears a same shade of blue as India. The design is taken from India’s old T20 jersey which had orange in it.
Will Team India don Orange instead of Blue in their game against West India on Thursday? There has been a lot of speculation over India's playing colours for the encounter. India is set to sport an orange jersey for some of their matches in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. It was reported that the jersey will be predominantly orange with a tinge of blue and will be unveiled during the course of the World Cup.
The idea of the multicoloured jersey comes from football where away team has to change their attire if it matches with that of the home team.
''For televised ICC events all participating teams will be required to provide for two different coloured kits, except for the host country who has a preference in the choice of colour and may, if it chooses to do so, provide only one coloured kit to be worn in all matches throughout the event. In advance of the event the teams will be notified which coloured kit will be worn in each match," the ICC said in a release perviously.
There have been reports that the jersey may debut in the West Indies vs India match on June 27. However, it seems fans will have to wait some more to get the first look at India's alternative colours.
