Pakistan all-rounder created more confusion on his birthday on Monday regarding his age after he tweeted that he is 44 thanking the fans for wishes
Former Pakistan star all-rounder, who had created a controversy regarding his real age in 2019 when in his autobiography, 'Game Changer' he mentioned that he was born in 1975 and not in 1980, as per official records, has generated more buzz and confusion again, on his latest birthday on Monday, March 1, 2021.
Afridi, who should have turned either 41 or 46 on Monday, turned 44, according to him. Afridi, who holds the record for the youngest player in the history of ODI cricket at 16 years and 217 days, when he played a blistering knock of 102 runs off just 37 balls in 1996, might be in danger of losing the record that is in his name. As the next person on the list should be the one holding the record, as per his claims, if he is 44 now, he should have been 19 years and 217 days old when he played that knock.
Here are the next five players in the list, who are in the list of youngest players to score an ODI century:
1. Usman Ghani
Usman Ghani, the Afghanistan batsman, should ideally be the holder of the record if Afridi is indeed not 41 years of age. Ghani played a 118-run knock against Zimbabwe in 2014 in Bulawayo. Ghani was just 17 years and 242 days old when he hit that century.
2. Imran Nazir
3. Saleem Elahi
4. Tamim Iqbal
The experienced Bangladesh left-handed opening batsman Tamim Iqbal also makes the list in the next place. Tamim hit a fantastic 129 against Ireland in Dhaka in the year 2008. Tamim achieved the same at age of 19 years and 2 days.
5. Rahmanullah Gurbaz
Another Afghanistan batsman makes the list and it's the young sensation Rahamanullah Gurbaz, who after his exploits in the Lanka Premier League (LPL), made his presence felt at the highest level playing for Afghanistan. Gurbaz achieved the feat recently in January when he played a fabulous knock of 129 runs against Ireland. Gurbaz was 19 years and 54 days old when he achieved the feat.
