As the auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL), 2021 season came to a close on Thursday after witnessing some of the furious bidding wars for some top overseas and local bowlers and all-rounders, the batsmen were left wanting at the end.

While most of the batsmen were picked at base prices, or a couple of notches above, some of the top overseas and proven overseas batsmen remained unsold after the auction.

Australian limited-overs skipper Aaron Finch, in one of the biggest surprises of the auction, remained unsold. Finch, who has played for the most number of teams in the IPL, i.e., 8, didn't find any home this season after returning with a mediocre season with the Royal Challengers Bangalore and a horrible BBL. Alex Hales, who according to him, is at the peak of his form, wasn't able to find any side to pick him.
