IPL 2019: Mumbai Indians beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by five wickets in their IPL match against Mumbai Indians in Mumbai on Monday.

In the first innings, AB de Villiers and Moeen Ali hit impressive half-centuries to guide Royal Challengers Bangalore to a respectable 171 for 7 against Mumbai Indians in their Indian Premier League game here Monday. 

After RCB lost skipper Virat Kohli (8 off 9 balls) and Parthiv Patel (28 off 20 balls) inside seven overs, de Villiers (75 in 51 balls) along with Ali (50 runs in 32 balls) resurrected the innings with a 95-run stand for the third wicket.

However, veteran Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga (4/31) pegged the visiting side back by removing Ali and Marcus Stonis (0) in the 18th over and taking two wickets in the final over. De Villiers was run out in the final over off a brilliant throw from long-on.

Pawan Negi who was given the 19th over was not upto the mark. He bowled three decent overs but bowled a really poor penultimate over.

Hardik Pandya, on the other hand, was great under pressure, but so was Ishan Kishan for the way he counter-attacked and got three crucial sixes.

This is the seventh loss for RCB, potentially ending their hopes of a play-playoff.
