IPL 2019 final, MI vs CSK Live Score: Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by one run in the Indian Premier League (IPL) final on Sunday to secure their fourth IPL title- the most by any franchise in the T20 league.

It was a last-ball thriller Chennai were restricted to 148 for 7 in their 20 overs chasing a modest target of 150. CSK needed 2 runs off the final ball of the match, but Shardul Thakur was trapped LBW by Lasith Malinga to give MI the victory.  

Chasing 150, CSK had an average start as Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson kept the scoreboard running. Du Plessis came out strikingly in the fourth over and hammered two fours and a six to Krunal Pandya. However, Du Plessis gave away his wicket in the same over which ended his 26 runs inning off just 13 balls.

Raina then joined Watson and both played cautiously till the 10th over, when Raina got out after scoring eight runs. Ambati Rayudu (1) then came out to bat but he too was sent back to the pavilion in the next over by Jasprit Bumrah. Skipper MS Dhoni (2) was given run out to a very close call owing to a direct hit by Ishan Kishan. 

Shane Watson and Dwyane Bravo kept Chennai on track with 20 runs coming off the 16th and 18th over. Chennai Super Kings needed 18 runs in the final two overs with 6 wickets remaining. Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Dwyane Bravo in the 19th over. Shane Watson was run out in the final over with CSK needing 4 runs off 2 balls. However, Lasith Malinga trapped Shardul Thakur leg-before-wicket on the final ball to win the match for Mumbai.

Earlier, Mumbai Indians, who opted to bat first after winning the toss, had a decent start as the openers, Quinton de Kock and skipper Rohit Sharma, played steadily. De Kock came out furiously on Deepak Chahar in the third over as he hammered him three sixes owing to which, Chahar conceded 20 runs in the over.

Shardul Thakur provided Chennai with their first breakthrough in the form of De Kock (29) which ended his 45-run partnership with the skipper. Sharma (15) too gave away his wicket in the next over after MSD pulled off a diving catch off Chahar's delivery.

Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan then took the field and added 37 runs on the scoreboard before Imran Tahir, who was brought into the attack in the 12th over, hold of Yadav (15). Krunal Pandya (7) was sent back to the pavilion in the very next over bowled by Shardul Thakur. Kieron Pollard then joined Kishan but their 12-run partnership was also halted by Tahir in the 15th over.

With Mumbai's biggest hitters Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya at the crease, Chennai bowlers did their best to restrict the scoring rate. Deepak Chahar trapped Hardik (16 off 10) leg-before-wicket and then removed his cousin Rahul Chahar (0) in the space of three balls.

The last over was full of drama - including a debate over a wide that was not given and one run out - before Pollard hit two boundaries of the last two balls to take Mumbai to 149.
