India dismissed England for 246 on the opening day of the fourth cricket Test on Thursday.

India were 19/0 at end of day's play.

India went with an unchanged playing XI for the first time in 39 tests as they took the field against England in the fourth Test at Southampton on Thursday.  After registering a comprehensive victory in Nottingham, India will look to continue their winning momentum at the Ageas Bowl Cricket Ground in Southampton. They trail 2-1 in the ongoing five-match series.

Joe Root called correct again at the toss as the hosts opted to bat first.

They were dealt a blow soon after opener Keaton Jennings fell for naught to Jasprit Bumrah. Ishant Sharma then removed Joe Root (4) to give England another big jolt. Jonny Bairstow, batting with a fractured finger, was caught behind off Bumrah as England were reduced to 28/3. Hardik Pandya then got rid of Alistair Cook for 17. Shami got rid of Buttler after lunch and then got the wicket of Ben Stokes too.

Moeen Ali and Sam Curran, both recalled to England's playing XI for this match, then added 81 runs for the seventh wicket.

R Ashwin broke the partnership as he dismissed Ali for 40.

Ashwin also got the wicket of Curran who top scored with 78.
