India vs England 3rd Test Updates: India beat England by 203 runs at Trent Bridge- as it happened

Here are the updates of the third test between India and England at Trent Bridge.

India needed 17 balls on Wednesday to wrap up a win against England in third test at Trent Bridge. R Ashwin got rid of James Anderson as India won the match by 203 runs.

India were just one wicket away from a famous win against England at the start of play on the fiftth day. England were 311 for 9 at stumps on the fourth day after India had set them an improbable target of 521 runs. 

Jasprit Bumrah's spell brought the visitors close to victory after a defiant stand by Ben Stokes and Jos Butler. Bumrah sent back Bulter after 169-run stand for the fifth wicket. He then clean bowled Jonny Bairstow, who batted with an injured hand, on the very next ball. 

Bumrah got rid of Chris Woakes through an superb bouncer before Hardik Pandya got Ben Stokes out to make it 241/8. 

Bumrah soon got Rashid out too, but it was later ruled no-ball for over stepping. Rashid and Stuart Broad added 50 runs for the ninth wicket before Bumrah accounted for Broad to get his fifth wicket.  

Rashid and James Anderson, however, survived the day defying the Indian bowlers for 5.4 overs and adding 19 runs for the last wicket.

Earlier, Butler and Stokes defied Indian bowlers as they took England to 173/4 at tea. England were reduced to 64 for four in their second innings before lunch.

India fast bowlers did the damage before lunch with Ishant Sharma sending opners Cook and Jennings back. Jasprit Bumrah then got Joe Root out while Shami got the wicket of Ollie Pope.  

At stumps of the third day, England were 23 for no loss in their second innings while chasing a mammoth 521 runs for victory in the third Test against India at Trent Bridge on Monday. 

Courtesy skipper Virat Kohli's 103, his second ton of the series, India declared their second innings at 352 for seven, leaving the hosts an improbable victory target of 521 runs to chase with two full days play remaining in the match.
