India vs Australia: 'If you get out, you can disco tonight,' here's every sledge picked up in Perth Test

Towards the end of Day three of the second Test, Tim Paine and Usman Khawaja were well set and the Indians were desperate to make a breakthrough before stumps. Indians made a huge appeal for caught-behind in the final over of the day but Paine survived.

When Australia resumed play on Day 4 in Perth, Khawaja and Paine were looking to carry forward the momentum from the previous day but were struggling to get the scoreboard ticking regularly. That's when Kohli decided to step in and mess around with his counterpart again.

Kohli's words were not clear on the stump mic but Paine's response to him was crystal clear. "Yeah, I’m no good. We can’t all be The King." Things got worse when Kohli stood at the mid-on and kept 

The banter became more heated next over as Kohli stationed himself at mid-on and kept bothering the Aussie captain. “You’re the one who lost it yesterday, why are you trying to be cool today?” Paine said. “Keep your cool, Virat.”

Umpire Chris Gaffaney stepped in and shouted, "Oi, that’s enough, that’s enough. Play the game. You guys are the captains.”

An irked Paine responded, "We’re allowed to talk. We can have a conversation. There’s no swearing." Things didn't end there as Kohli came in from his fielding position and the pair made contact at the non-striker’s end. Kohli then stopped and complained to the umpire. PC: PTI

A couple of hours after Paine and Kohli went head to head during Australia's innings, the Australian captain had the last laugh.

It came when Kohli was dismissed by Australia in the final session of Day four. Soon after Kohli walked off the filed, the stump mic caught Paine speaking to Indian opener Murali Vijay.

“Murali I know he’s your captain but you can’t seriously like him? You can’t seriously like the bloke,” Paine said to Vijay. PC: Twitter

Hands down, my favouite sledge of the Test came on the final ball before stumps on day four. With 'serial-sledger' of the series, Rishabh Pant batting, Australian new-comer Marcus Harris moved in to field at silly mid-off and probably was tempted to make one last comment of the day.

“If you get out you can go and disco tonight. Good circuit on a Monday night in Perth,” a cheeky Harris said to Pant. The young Indian wicketkeeper-batsman was sporting enough to give Harris a little smirk. PC: Twitter

It was Nathan Lyon who delivered the first sledge of Day 5 and it was Indian batsman Hanuma Vihari on the receiving end.

Vihari, who was in the team as a replacement for injured Rohit Sharma, was under pressure to save his wicket as India still needed 175 runs with half the team already back into the pavilion. 

After finishing an over, Lyon walked past Vihari. “Where are you going for your Christmas holiday? I hear Hamilton Island is a nice place,” Lyon said to Vihari. The Aussie spinner perhaps suggested the Indian batsman won't be included for the Boxing Day Test. PC: PTI

There were several instances of sledging in the Perth Test and apart from Kohli-Paine that got heated up a bit, others were all light-hearted and ended with an exchange of smiles.

After ripping apart the Indian top and middle order, Lyon had some laugh as well.

In between overs he even offered to help do the umpire’s job, trying to help Ishant Sharma mark his leg stump. “Ishant what do you want? What are you looking for?” Lyon asked as Sharma tried to take guard. The Indian took the banter well and both players had a laugh. PC: ScreenGrab
