India vs Australia, 2nd Test: As it happened in Perth

Team India ended Day 4 of the second Test at 112 for 5, needing another 175 runs to win the match. When the play resumes in a few minutes, India will have Hanuma Vihari (24 off 58) and Rishabh Pant (9 off 19) at the crease. On the other hand, the Aussie quicks, Starc and Hazlewood would want to get rid of these two as soon as possible today to take their side closer to a superb victory. 

India 112 for 5 - Overs 41

On Day 4, the Aussie duo of Tim Paine and Usman Khawaja played out the first session without losing a wicket and that's exactly what the Indians have to do today to even have a chance of going for a win. Even if the Australians remove one of Vihari or Pant, it's a no-brainer that they'll wrap up the match from there soon. Pant on strike, Lyon with the ball, the final day of the second Test begins. 

Three overs gone, Starc and Lyon have not leaked runs here, in no time these two will get under pressure if they don't manage to keep the scoreboard ticking.

India 116 for 5, need 171 to win

Oh, Vihari! Starc bowls into the batsman's body, who ends up with a thick inside edge that flies straight to the fielder Marcus Harris at the square leg. That was unfortunate for Vihari, his resistance ends but in a forgettable way. He looked good in the 75 balls he played but has to walk back helpless, leaving India with Pant and the tail-enders.

India 128 for 6, need 159 to win

After Handscomb's low catch of Kohli earlier in the match got him mixed reaction, mostly negative as a lot of people thought his hand touched the grass and Kohli was not out, has the last laugh in Perth. As Pant tries to push a Lyon's delivery, an edge flies to mid-wicket where Handscomb leaps to the left to take a one-handed blinder. A third wicket for Lyon, Aussies now are three wickets away from equalising the series 1-1. 

OUT! OUT! - two wickets in two overs and this puts the hosts one wicket away from a stunning victory here in Perth. Umesh Yadav survives 28 deliveries before becoming Starc's third victim of the innings. Pat Cummins from the other end does the job as he dismisses Ishant Sharma for a five-ball duck. 

Aussies need 1 wicket, while India are 147 runs away 

It's done & dusted in Perth! 

Pat Cummins dismissed Ishant Sharma on the third ball of the 56th over. Two balls later, Cummins bowls a short delivery to Bumrah, who tries to pull but gets a top-edge that flies high in the air. Cummins chases before he reverse cups it near the stumps at the non-striker's end.

What a win for the hosts. It was their first-ever Test in the new Perth Stadium and by winning it, they ensured Perth remains their entity, where they have always dominated. The series is wide open at 1-1, making the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground even more interesting. 

Australia defeat India by 146 runs in the second Test at Perth and square off the series 1-1 with two more Test remaining in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
