World Cup 2019: In the over-hyped match between India and Pakistan, the Men in blue continued their winning streak in the World Cups as they cruised through to an 89-run win as per the DLS method.

Rohit Sharma’s 140-run knock with the help from KL Rahul's 57 and Virat Kohli's 77 help laid the foundation to India's 336/5 finish.

Pakistan’s chase was steadied by a century stand between Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam, but rains had other plans which led to their defeat.

Here are some statistical highlights from the June 16 match:

1. India continues winning streak

India have faced Pakistan seven times in total at the World Cup (Including 16 June 2019) and have won each of their seven matches.  This is the joint-most wins against a team in the CWC without a defeat.  Pakistan also have won all their seven World Cup matches against Sri Lanka.

Sarfaraz Ahmed became the first captain to field first after winning the toss in an IND-PAK World Cup game. In all of the previous six encounters, India have won the toss five times and batted first while Pakistan won the toss in 2003 and elected to bat as well.

In a World Cup game against Pakistan, India’s 89-run win in this game is their biggest win surpassing the 76-run win in the 2015 edition. This win is also India’s 3rd biggest ODI win against Pakistan in terms of runs.

India’s 336/5 in this game is the highest total by any team against Pakistan in the World Cup. England’s 334/9 earlier in this tournament was the highest CWC total against Pakistan.

2. Virat Kohli at 11000

Rohit Sharma became the first Indian to score back to back centuries against Pakistan in the ODI format.

He scored an unbeaten 111 against Pakistan during the Asia Cup 2018 in Dubai.

Not just this, here are all the records that Rohit Sharma created with his brilliant 140-run innings against Pakistan.

4. India's new opener partnership record

The 136-run partnership between Rohit and Rahul is the first ever 100-run opening stand in India-Pakistan CWC games. The duo had first-time played as openers together with Rahul taking Shikhar Dhawan's place.

Earlier, Navjot Sidhu added 91 in the 1996 CWC game along with Sachin Tendulkar.

The 136-run stand is also the highest for any wicket in IND-PAK CWC games surpassing the 129-run partnership between Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan from 2015 for the 2nd wicket.

5. Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam
