In pics: Virat Kohli and Co. begin preparations for 1st Test vs England at Chepauk stadium

Indian skipper Virat Kohli was on paternity leave and has now returned back to serve and lead the Men in Blue.

While Kohli's aim would be to keep the winning momentum on, he would also be eyeing the biggest ever batting record as he is just a ton away from becoming the captain with most centuries under his belt.

Kohli needs one hundred to go past Ricky Ponting and become the captain with most international centuries. Currently, Ponting and Virat Kohli are tied on to the top of the list with 41 international hundreds each as captain. 

Senior pacer Ishant Sharma, who had missed the Australia tour due to the side strain he suffered during the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the UAE, was added to the squad.

Team India coaches also met at the stadium accessing the situation and the players. 

India and England are set to lock horns in four Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is. The first two games of the Test series will be played in Chennai before the cricketers move to Ahmedabad for the third and fourth Test.

The second Test between India and England at the MA Chidambaram Stadium is slated to begin from February 13 and will have 50 per cent crowd in attendance, Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) secretary RS Ramasaamy confirmed on Monday.

"We have spoken to the BCCI, we will get official approval for 50 per cent fans by today evening," Ramasaamy told ANI.

A BCCI official, earlier in the day, confirmed that fans would be allowed inside the Motera Stadium for the third and fourth Test between India and England. Speaking to ANI, a BCCI official on Monday confirmed that fans will be allowed to come in for the Test matches in Motera.

Chennai lads R Ashwin and Washington Sundar were seen talking to each other at the outdoor session. 

While R Ashwin's spins has worked wonders for Team India over the years. Debutant Washington Sundar has made sure to keep his place in the squad.

Team India's 'Hitman' Rohit Sharma surely did not have the outing he thought he would Down Under, however, having home advantage could change things around for him and Team India.

Axar Patel had been off the game but now with his addition back to the squad could help India as it had in many tough situations. Not to forget that he is also a good batsman.

As for Bumrah, he had not played the last Test match at the Gabba due to an injury. However, he is back in the squad and will be leading the pace attack for India.
