Team India and Delhi Capitals off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin turned 35 on Friday, September 17.
Ravichandran Ashwin, one of the best spinners in the world and No 2 bowler in Test matches celebrated his 35th birthday on Friday, September 17. Ashwin, who is currently undergoing quarantine ahead of the second phase of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the UAE, is considered one of the greatest thinkers of the game and in the last few years has emerged as one of the best bowlers India has seen.
Ashwin, who is a father of two girls, has of late credited his success to his family, especially his wife and his daughters while saying that he is in the best phase of his career, mentally and skill wise too. The veteran off-spinner, who used to study in the same school as Prithi, were childhood friends and the friendship blossomed into a life-long togetherness.
Here's a look at their heartwarming love story:
1. Childhood sweethearts

Ashwin and Prithi studied in the same school, which was the first time when the two met and became friends. The friendship grew stronger and blossomed into love when both of them joined the same college, i.e., SSN College of Engineering in Chennai.
2. Ashwin and Prithi started dating each other

Since both of their families knew each other very well, Ashwin and Prithi's closeness wasn't opposed and they started dating each other. While the off-spinner was slowly rising up the ranks in Indian Cricket as the budding off-spinner, his relationship with Prithi too grew deeper and stronger as both got engaged in early 2011.
3. A tradional wedding after the World Cup 2011 win

While the ring ceremony was a smaller, private affair before the 2011 Cricket World Cup, Ashwin and Prithi tied the knot on November 13, 2011, in a grand traditional wedding ceremony in Chennai. After his wedding, Ashwin took some time off from the game to spend some time with his wife.
4. Ashwin and Prithi blessed with daughters

R Ashwin and Prithi were blessed with a baby girl in 2015 and their second daughter was born in 2016. While the elder one is named Akhira, the younger one is Aadhya.
5. The support system

Prithi and the two daughters have become the essential support system for Ashwin as they accompany him anywhere and everywhere he goes n tours whether with the national team or for the IPL. Especially in the post-COVID era where the cricketers have to spend long periods of time in quarantines and bubbles, the spouses and children alongside have helped cricketers to remain sane and focus on what's ahead and has been one of the reasons for Ashwin becoming one of the best spinners in the modern-day.
