While India could not defend their title against Bangladesh, many heroes from the U19 squad emerged after the World Cup 2020 which recently concluded in South Africa.
From batsmen like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Divyaansh Saxena to bowlers like Ravi Bishnoi and Karthik Tyagi - many young guns grabbed the attention.
Now taking the limelight was wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel. His remarkable stumping dismissal of Bangladesh's Shahadat Hossain in the final clash at the Senwes Park, Potchefstroom got everyone talking.
The moment took place in the 17th over when spinner Bishnoi flighted a slow one outside off to Shahadat in the first ball of his over.
Hossain decided to step forward and defend the ball, but played a little outside the line, and got a small inside edge on the ball.
The ball rolled back to keeper Jurel after it ricocheted off the batsman’s pads. Hossain failed to get his feet back into the crease, and Jurel, with his lightning-fast speed, collected the ball from the ground with one hand and took the bails off.
Seeing the stumping got netizens talking as they were quick to compare Jurel with former India captain MS Dhoni and current Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant.
