New Zealand have hammered Pakistan in the second T20I of the three-match series in Hamilton on Sunday as they took an unassailable lead of 2-0.
New Zealand's unbeaten home summer continues as they still haven't lost a single game in the 7 matches they have played in the current season yet.
The Blackcaps came out smashing from the first ball as both the openers Martin Guptill and Tim Seifert looked in a hurry to finish the game for the hosts.
The duo added 35 runs in 20 balls to give the Kiwis a flying start. However, that explosion was cut short by Faheem Ashraf as he removed Guptill for 21 off 11 balls. Not before, he hit a couple of big ones into Hamilton's night sky, which also were witness of a couple of planets Jupiter and Saturn.
After which Tim Seifert took the steering wheel in his hands as apart from skipper Shadab Khan, every Pakistan bowler went the distance.
Returning skipper Kane Williamson took his time initially before he went into the destruction mode.
Both the batsmen picked their bowlers and areas and threaded the gaps in a chase masterclass as the duo stitched an unbeaten 129-run partnership off just 95 balls as the Blackcaps got over the line pretty comfortably in the end with four balls to spare.
Earlier, New Zealand's all three test bowlers returned as Tim Southee picked a four-fer to dent Pakistan's innings.
Southee first removed both the openers in the same over to reduce Pakistan to 16-2 after two overs. Southee came back in his third over to account for Mohammad Rizwan as Pakistan lost three wickets inside the powerplay.
However, Mohammad Hafeez on the other end kept playing his shots and ended with an unbeaten 99 off just 57 balls. He hit 10 fours and five sixes as he fell short just one run of his well-deserved T20I century.
Hafeez's knock helped Pakistan reach 163/6 in their 20 overs but it wasn't enough for the Kiwis as Seifert's second half-century of the series was enough for New Zealand to chase 164 in a canter.
New Zealand, now have won six out of their seven games played in their home summer till now, with one being abandoned against West Indies in Mount Maunganui.
The final game of the series will take place on Tuesday, December 22 in Napier.
