Opening batsman Prithvi Shaw has scored just four runs in the two innings and was further criticised after he dropped a catch of Marnus Labuschagne

Prithvi Shaw hasn't had a great start to his first Australian tour. After he was bowled on the second ball in the first innings, his poor run continued in the field and in the second innings as well.
Standing on backward sqaure leg, Prithvi started backpeddling on a Marnus Labuschagne pull short, but he couldn't hold on to it after getting his hands on it. Labuschagne was batting on 22 then and later added 25 runs in his tally.
In the second innings too, his 'chink in armour' came to haunt him again. The nip-backer inswinging delivery on length went through Shaw's defence again.
"If he does have a chink in his armour it's the ball which does come back into him...

"Quite often leaves a big gap between bat and pad and that's where the Aussies will target." @RickyPonting at his peerless best for the Prithvi Shaw wicket #AUSvIND pic.twitter.com/4nh67zBcpU
The gap between his bat and pad was threaded by Cummins' excellent delivery and Shaw got out for 4.
Netizens criticised Shaw as his technique has brought his undoing in the both the innings and his mental space is affecting him in the fielding too.
This is 21-year old's first tour to Australia and against the likes of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood his technique and defence is not helping his cause.
While, many users felt he could have even be subbed out of the game seeing his woeful touch in every facet of the game, many expected that he will get dropped from the second game. Some of the users even compared his defence and batting skills to that of Bumrah, who was sent in as the night watchman after his half-century in the practice game.
Shaw, who has a hundred in Tests against West Indie at home, has had his weakness exposed by the tall Australian fast bowlers and has looked clueless against them.
Here are some of the reactions:
Shubman Gill for Boxing Day. And yes it’s harsh on Prithvi to get just one Test, but there was a clear lack of confidence in him even before this one, and he’s lucky to have still played. Plus Australia have clearly exposed a technical weakness as well. #AUSvIND

It would be unfair on Prithvi Shaw also if he’s given another Test. Will be a blessing in disguise for him if he’s benched. It could be a bad phase but the youngster is clearly not there, both technically and mentally #IndvsAus #PrithviShaw
