Sehwag used remarks like '10-crore cheerleader' and 'highly-paid vacation' for Maxwell following his struggles in the recently concluded IPL playing for Kings XI.

Maxwell, who was bought by the Punjab based franchise for INR 10.75 Crores, returned with just 108 runs in 13 matches at an average of 15.4, without scoring even a single six.

Sehwag has been openly severe on Maxwell in the past as well, but this time his form and inability to score quick runs, got the former to criticise him again.

“It’s ok. Viri (Sehwag) is pretty outspoken with his dislike of me, and that’s fine. He’s allowed to say whatever he likes,” Maxwell said speaking to The West Australian.

“He’s in the media for such statements, so that’s fine. I deal with that and move on, and take it with a grain of salt with Sehwag.”

Maxwell attributed his mental health break (that he took in the last year) as a guide in dealing with opinions and views like these since then. “I think I’m better equipped with dealing with those sorts of things now,“ Maxwell said.

“I think in hindsight it was a pretty good time to go through something like that where I was able to put some groundwork in to deal with adversity. This year has certainly been a massive test of it.

“To be able to help people through different times of tough periods and be able to help myself through those tough periods has been really key as well.”

Maxwell has been named in the 18-men squad for the limited overs series against India, starting on Novemeber 27 in Sydney.
