Author, historian and columnist Ramachandra Guha has come down heavily on the top management of Indian cricket in his new book, 'Commonwealth of Cricket: A Lifelong Love Affair with the Most Subtle and Sophisticated Game Known to Humankind'.

Talking about what's ailing Indian cricket currently, Guha criticised the way it is being run and those who are running it. Guha had resigned from the Committee of Administrators (COA) after getting frustrated of the same even after the order of the Supreme Court of India.

After charges of corruption and failing to affiliate themselves with the reforms of Justice RM Lodha Commission of transparency and better governance, COA was appointed to run the operations of BCCI. But, after handing overs reigns to an elcted body last year from COA, Guha targeted the BCCI officials addressing them as greedy and having political connections.

Guha singled out Sourav Ganguly after he was made the BCCI President. Ganguly continues to stay in the news and on TV after being involved with JSW Group and the fantasy game and app My11Circle.com.

"Look at (Sourav) Ganguly today - head of the Board and representing some cricket fantasy game. This kind of greed for money among Indian cricketers is shocking."

Ganguly and Virat Kohli have already faced the heat for promoting and being associated with these fantasy apps which are nothing but online betting portals.

"Why should Ganguly be doing all these things for a little extra money? Ethical standards go down if the president of the Board behaves like this," said Guha.

Criticising the board further, Guha specially targeted former BCCI head N. Srinivasan and Home Minister Amit Shah, whose sons got involved with the board because they were sons of famous people.

"They (Srinivasan and Shah) are effectively running Indian cricket today. The state associations are run by somebody's daughter, somebody's son.

"The Board is steeped in intrigue and nepotism and there are great delays in paying Ranji Trophy players their dues. The reforms that were hoped for have not happened."

Guha also criticised BCCI for having the sole discretion in probably every department of the game. Talking about Sanjay Manjrekar's ouster from the commentary team, Guha said, "Conflict of interest is bad. What Ganguly is doing now is incorrect and no other country would allow it. Gags on commentators are bad. That Sanjay Manjrekar has to beg to be readmitted (in the commentary team) is pathetic."

The said book had released on November 12.
