    England 184/2 (31)

    England 172/2 (28)

    Root 58(70)

    Morgan 50(58)

  • Vaughan speaks!

  • Kuldeep to Root, FOUR, drives through covers. Root has well studied Kuldeep now and that has negated any wrist-spin threat for England, making all the difference here. DOT. DOT. One, drills the ball to long-on. DOT. Kuldeep to Morgan, hammers the ball down the ground, passing the bowler to clear the ropes, FOUR.

Morgan-Root’s partnership for England in ODIs, 2,118 – the most partnership runs for England in the 50-over game.

  • After 16 overs, England are 108/2, need 149 more to win this match and series.

Meanwhile, if you missed MS Dhoni’s master-class that got James Vince runout, watch HERE.

  • Wrist spinner in, so a breakthrough for India. Vince pushes the ball to mid-wicket on leg side, there was never a run there. Hardik collects it and throws it to Dhoni, brilliant throw that was. Vince would escape mostly because the ball was off the target, but the keeper was MS Dhoni, collects the ball with one hand and whips off the bails. DOT. DOT. Shot and wide from Chahal and Morgan punishes it for a FOUR to covers. DOT. DOT.

    England 78/2 (10)

    Root 12(15)

  • Bhuvi to Vince, FOUR. Not even 10 overs completed, there are raining boundaries in Leeds. First Bairstow and now Vince is taking over the charge. ONE. ONE. Bhuvi to Vince, goes short again, FOUR. Vince clips to wide short leg. DOT. DOT.

    England 67/1 (8)

    Vince 26(25)

    Root 6(10)

  • Two boundaries from Root off Shardul’s over. England are going as planned, attack the new ball. And attack before the wrist spinners are introduced. So far, so good from them. Seven overs gone, England are 57/1.

    Vince 17(20)

    Root 5(9)

  • Here are numbers that will leave Bhuvi under the radar:

Bhuvneshwar has taken 5 wickets in his last 60 overs in ODIs while Shardul has as many wickets in just his last 10 overs.

  • Shardul Thakur replaces Bhuvi, but the result remains the same, this time its Vince, who goes for an elegant shot. Thakur starts with a volley; Vince flicks it wide of the fielder for a FOUR. DOT. Vince goes down the pitch, ONE. OUT! But Shardul does the job here, crucial breakthrough as he removes the in-fire Bairstow. The batsman smashes seven fours in the last 9 balls he faces and the 10th delivery that comes his way is the one that sends him back to the dug out.

Bairstow cannot believe himself. A near full-toss from Shardul, Bairstow flicks and hands a dolly to Suresh Raina at short mid-wicket. Indians get charged up. The smiles return and Headingley goes crazy.

    England 43/1 (5)

    Vince 12(15)

    Root 0(2)

  • What a start from the English!

Bairstow brutally first punishes Bhuvneshwar Kumar in his second over, FOUR fours. The opener then goes after Hardik  Pandya, three more fours in the next over.

Four overs and England are already 38/0.

    Vince 7(12)

    Bairstow 30(12)

  • Hardik with the ball from the other end. Just two runs from the over, excellent from from the right-arm medium pacer.

    England 7/0 (2)

    Vince 5(10)

    Bairstow 1(2)

  • Vince welcomes Bhuvi with a boundary, first ball. Short and too wide from Bhuvi, Vince smashes it to covers, FOUR. DOT. DOT. DOT. ONE, leg byes. DOT.

    England 5/0 (1)

    Vince 4(5)

    Bairstow 0(1)

  • Get set go!

  • Willey to Thakur, ONE. Both the batsmen were looking at the ball and BANG, they collide; luckily no injuries here. Willey to Bhuvi, excellent ball again, batsman tries to slog but just tips to long-on for ONE. ONE. ONE. ONE. OUT! Bhuvi gets caught on the last ball, gets caught by Bairstow near the fence.

India 256/8. Think they are well short by 40-50 runs. Kohli will be desperate for Kuldeep to recreate his magic in today’s decider.

    Thakur 22(13)

    Bhuvi 21(35) c Bairstow b Willey

  • Morgan finally has begun to show faith in David Willey. At Lord’s, Willey was given his full quota of 10 overs. Today he has bowled nine. Good step for him. Meanwhile, Shardul smashes Stoves over deep mid-wicket for a SIX. Interesting and shocking part is, it was India’s just SECOND SIX in two games! Shardul bags another one but some sensational work from Plunkett at long-on denies India the boundary. Plunkett catches the ball, knew he was going to pass the rope, excellent presence of mind he throws the ball back into play; saves four runs for England as well. India gets just two runs. Brillinat stuff from England- be it fielding or bowling, today! Shardul however makes it up for that with a SIX on the fifth delivery of the same over. He is playing a blinder here for India. These runs will be crucial.

    India 251/7 (46 overs)

    Bhuvi 19(32)

    Thakur 19(10)

  • OUT!

Dhoni was slowly getting there, he would have begun hammering the bowlers any moment but Willey ensured England would not go through that today. A good length delivery, Dhoni gets an edge and Buttler behind the wickets literally pounced on it. His expressions showed he was not going to spill that one, at any cost. Major blow for India in the final stages.

    MS Dhoni 42(66) c Buttler b Willey

Shardul Thakur joins Bhuvi in the middle.

    India 222/7 (46 overs)

    Bhuvi 10(23)

    Thakur 1(!)

  • You bowl short to Dhoni now, you’ll be punished. Stokes saves Wood’s figures from spoiling here, an excellent save at backward point not only saves a boundary but also doesn’t give a run, DOT. ONE, leg byes. DOT. Bhuvi, ONE. Wood to Dhoni, another shorts-ish stuff, ONE. DOT.

    India 217/6 (39 overs)

    Dhoni 40(63)

    Bhuvi 8(21)

  • Do you agree?

  • 42 overs gone, Dhoni again looks to be repeating previous match’s slow innings. He can prepare himself for a series of criticisms, but one must understand the circumstances as well which have forced him to play so slowly.

Ahead of the decider match, India’s assistant coach Bangar had defended Dhoni’s game. “He was just hoping someone would bat with him and we were just hoping that he could bat till the 40th over and take the bowlers on. But, every time he looked to do that, we lost wickets - first there was Raina and then Hardik (Pandya), and then there was no batting to follow for him to do the usual stuff he does.

Alas, the same collapse has been witnessed today too. So, why blame the white-bearded man alone?

    India 210/6 (39 overs)

    Dhoni 28(53)

    Bhuvi 5(13)

  • If you missed Virat Kohli's shell-shocked-expression's video, watch HERE

  • Wood to Hardik, whips to left of Rashid, easy TWO. The Indians have been targeting Rashid, the fielder for some time now. A ball to him is easy two runs for these fast runners. OUT! Mark Wood removes Hardik and Headingly speaks echo with ‘Chak de India’ song. Tail starts, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the new man in.

    India 195/6 (39 overs)

    Dhoni 27(47)

    Bhuvi 1(1)

  • Mooen Ali to Dhoni, pushes to left of square leg for ONE. Ali spins down the leg to Hardik, he pushes it comfortably wide of Rashid at fine leg for TWO. Hardik tries to sweep, finds Stokes at square leg, DOT. ONE. DOT. Dhoni on backfoot punches it to sweeper, ONE. Will keep strike.

    India 181/5 (36 overs)

    Dhoni 25(37)

    Pandhya 10(14)

  • Virat Kohli in 2018:

He has scored under 40 just once so far.

    Here are his knocks in 2018: 112 46* 160* 75 36 129* 75 45 53* & counting

  • Meanwhile, reactions to Kohli's dismissal to a spinner, again, this series!

  • Meanwhile, on the last ball of the same Kohli, Rashid removes Suresh Raina too, an inside thick edge on the pad and Root does the rest of the job with a superb diving catch.

Two balls late, Dhoni is given out. India is suddenly falling like dominos. The former captain immediately raises his hand for a DRS review. The replays show no inside edge onto the pad. Nothing on UltraEdge. They check for a LBW, not hitting the wickets. Dhoni survives.

    India 168/5 (33 overs)

    Dhoni 19(28)

    Pandhya 5(5)

  • Here you go. This expression is going into history books:

  • OUT!

    Shocked.

    Shell-shocked.

Yes, that’s what Rashid left Kohli with.“Ohhhhhhhhh,” Indian skipper looks back at his hit stumps, slowly recovering from the shock, he walks back. On the way, he looks at Dhoni, maybe for a return sympathy look. That was a stellar delivery from Rashid, beats Kohli’s punch, fall on the off-stump and goes into the hands of Buttler behind the wickets.

Rashid’s massive celebration is overshadowed by Kohli’s reaction. The Indian skipper always has had clear-cut face expressions that give away his mood. Right now, the No. 1 batsman is just in a shock.

  • In the last five years, the average score at Headingly has been 298. Considering England’s batting, that should be the minimum India should aim to get; anything less than that will push the bowlers under serious pressure. With the English slowly learning to handle Kuldeep, India will really have to score big today.

Ali to Dhoni, DOT. Mis-timed as he tries to pull. FOUR, Dhoni beats the backward square guy as he sweeps really hard. ONE, Dhoni pushes the ball wide of mid-wicket. Another boundary in the next three balls.

    India 156/3 (30)

  • Meanwhile, watching Dhoni come out at No. 5, fans have some reactions:

  • Moeen Ali to Dhoni, ONE. KOhli punches to long-on, ONE. Ali goes the same way to Dhoni, ONE again. Ali to Kohli, a faster delivery, Kohli waist for the ball, flicks it to deep mid, ONE. DOT. DOT.

    India 132/3 (26)

    Kohli 57(61)

    Dhoni 4(6)

  • OUT!

Adil Rashid makes the breakthrough for England, Karthik unlucky to get out in that fashion. But, then leggies are meant for creating such heartbreaking dismissals for the batsmen.  Rashid bowls one outside off, Karthik goes down to drive it, but that produces an inside edge that goes on the stumps.

Disappointed Karthik bangs the bat on the other hand as he watches the replay on the big screen while walking off the field.

    Dhoni in. Critics get alert?

    India 128/3 (25)

    Kohli 55(59)

    Dhoni 2(2)

  • Plunkett to Kohli, DOT. Looks to hit it to extra-cover, no contact. Kohli guides it to third man, ONE. Plunkett to Karthik, ONE to deep mid-wicket. KOhli smashes to backward point, fielder dives, but watches the ball cross the ropes, FOUR. That brings up 48th ODI fifty for the Indian skipper. He raises the bat acknowledging the Leeds crowd.  ONE. FOUR to end the over by Karthik.

    India 124/2 (24)

    Kohli 53(56)

    Karthik 21(21)

  • STAT ALERT:

Kohli was also the fastest captain to:

    1000 ODI runs (17 inns)

    2000 ODI runs (36 inns)

And today, 3000 ODI runs (49 inns)

  • Dinesh Karthik is in the XI today, replacing KL Rahul. There were  several criticisms before this match asking why Kohli was not picking him.

First ball Karthik faces, slowly dabs it to late short third for a FOUR.

    India 89/2 (18)

    Kohli 36(40)

    Karthik 4(!)

  • OUT! Ali to Kohli, flicks it to square-leg. Dhawan takes off immidiatly from the other end, doesn’t see Stokes collecting the ball. A missile-throw from Ben Stokes catches Dhawan short of crease. Instead of diving to save his wicket, instead he tries to stretch his bat. Simply waste of wicket, especially when India needed this partnership to go big.

    Dhawan 44(49) runout Ben Stokes

  • The replays show, ultraedge has picked up a thick edge when Ali appealed for a caught behind for Kohli in the 16th over. Hard luck, England did not take a review.

  • Kohli welcomes Stokes with a FOUR, strikes it hard to mid-on. Come back from Stokes, with more pace, DOT. He keeps an eye on the field set up, knows the third man is wide, FOUR, with just one bounce near the ropes. ONE, to mid-on. Stokes to Dhawan, pushes the ball to backward point. Excellent fielding from Vince there, dives and saves a run for England, ONE. Stokes to Kohli, drives to sweep-cover, ONE.

    India 82/1 (17 overs)

    Dhawan 43(48)

    Kohli 34(36)

  • Moeen Ali once again appeals hard. Did Kohli get an edge there? Maybe the sound was of the bat hitting the ground. Four runs off that over.

    India 71/1 (16)

  • Stokes to Kohli, DOT. Drives through cover, ONE. Stokes to Dhawan, superb use of wrists, with full force clears the mid-wicket, FOUR. DOT. Dhawan tries to hit hard again, Stokes stops it by his foot only in an attempt to run Kohli out on the non-striker’s end. Kohli dives to save his wicket, Stokes’ effort of deflecting the ball ends to mid-off. Dhawan wants a single, but Kohli is down on the ground, in no position to run. Stokes to Dhawan, WIDE. ONE.

    India 67/1 (15)

    Dhawan 40(44)

    Kohli 22(28)

  • Morgan finally brings the spinner. The delay is understandable; his fast bowlers alone were doing the job well. An expensive over, and spin comes in immediately. Five runs from Moeen Ali’s first over.

Meanwhile, from the other end, Ben Stokes with the ball.

    India 60/1

    Dhawan 35(40)

    Kohli 21(26)

  • Finally, a big over for the Indians! Plunkett to Kohli, DOT. Kohli gets an edge, goes on backfoot and blocks it for ONE. Plunkett to Dhawan, WIDE, down the leg. WIDE again, off the target. Plunkett to Dhawan, FOUR, FOUR, FOUR!

15 runs off the over, first big over for India, first expensive over from the hosts.

    Dhawan 33(38)

    Kohli 18(22)

  • Liam Plunkett continues.

STAT: Plunkett (114) is just two wickets to reach sixth spot among English bowlers. Plunkett will go past Phil DeFreitas. The top five are James Anderson (269), Darren Gough (234), Stuart Broad (178), Andrew Flintoff (168), and Ian Botham (145). Adil Rashid has 110 and Chris Woakes 109.

  • India are yet to bag runs in double digits today. Another brilliant over from David Willey, gives away just two runs.

    India 40/1 (12)

    Dhawan 21(34)

    Kohli 17(20)

  • STAT ALERT for the Indian skipper:

  • Willey to Kohli, he was ready with a boundary in his mind, FOUR, over mid-on’s head. ONE, opens the face of the bat, defences, wide of gully for a single. DOT. DOT. ONE, to third man.

    10 overs gone, India 32/1 Dhawan 15(25), Kohli 15(17)
