If you have been wondering to update your Aadhaar details then you have to shell out some more money as the Aadhaar authority, UIDAI is reportedly considering imposing 18 per cent GST.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), according to some media reports, would now impose 18 per cent Goods and Services Tax (GST) on updation of Aadhaar details.

At present, UIDAI charges Rs 25 for any update related to demographic information which includes name, address, date of birth, mobile, genrder and email. 

For biometric updates, it charges the same amount of Rs 25. However, biometric and demographic updates for children are free of cost. 

If the 18 per cent GST cess has been implemented, then the subscribers have to pay Rs 4.5 extra. 

UIDAI has also launched a helpline number for Aadhaar subscribers, if their centre overcharges them. Individuals can call at 1947 (toll free) or can write to help@uidai.gov.in

Meanwhile, at Aadhaar's twitter handle, the authority informed that parents can still apply for aadhaar card of their children if the child does not have any address proof. 

UIDAI has also tweeted the list of supporting documents to update details in Aadhaar card. However, this will not be applicable for mobile number, email or biometric updates.
