The company had a net loss of Rs 233.40 crore in the year-ago quarter, Uttam Galva Steels said in a BSE filing.

Its total income fell to Rs 1,023.87 crore during the April-June quarter as against Rs 1,357.86 crore in the corresponding quarter of the preceding fiscal.

The company's total expense was at Rs 1,216.40 crore as compared to Rs 1,591.26 crore in the year-ago quarter, a fall of 23 per cent.

Uttam Galva Steels Ltd is engaged in manufacturing of steel products. It manufactures cold rolled steel (CR) and galvanised steel (GP).

Shares of the company closed 3.80 per cent up at Rs 31.40 on BSE.
