The Tamil Nadu government today kicked off a series of initiatives to ramp up sales of dairy products sold through Tamil Nadu Co-operative Milk Producers' Federation Limited, popularly known as AAVIN.

Dairy Development Minister K T Rajendra Balaji while addressing wholesale distributors and retailers of AAVIN milk products at a function here, formally launched sales of half-kilo curd, costing Rs 25 a packet.

Noting that about 1,500 litres of curd are sold in Chennai in the form of 200 ml sachets every day, he said the half kilo curd packets priced at Rs 25 were introduced from today to increase sales

Referring to sales of milk powder, he said nearly 3,500 kg of milk powder is sold in Tamil Nadu every month.

To boost sales of milk powder, the Minister introduced sales in half kilo and one kg packets to other States.

On sales of milk, he said about 11.70 lakh litres of AAVIN milk are sold each day and urged distributors to take steps to increase sales.
