Suzuki Motorcycle India (SMIPL) on Tuesday launched a 150cc street sport bike – Suzuki Gizzer – priced at Rs 72,199. Targeting the youth in twenties, the company is eyeing 10% of the 150cc segment through this product.
It is targeting sales of 50,000 units in the next six months and has got 1,000 bookings already.
The bike promises a mileage of 63.5 km a litre. Atul Gupta, SMIPL executive vice-president, said, "We have already rolled out four products this year. The fourth is being launched today. In the 150cc category, there are two sub divisions – practical drive and pleasure drive. We would like to position Gizzer in the pleasure drive, which is the preference of the younger generation."
"The 150cc segment segment logs sales of about 70,000 units per month. We are looking at about 10% of it," said Gupta. The bike will compete with TVS Apache, Bajaj's Pulsar, and Yamaha's FZ.
It boasts of SEP (Suzuki Eco Performance) technology-based engine, which has been designed to reduce all kind of mechanical losses to achieve economy and performance.
"With this technology, the customer gets unmatched engine performance without compromising on fuel economy," said Gupta.
The key features include complete digital display, dual exhaust – which is first in the segment, single disk brake in the front, aerodynamic fuel tank of twelve litreS and 135 kg kerb weight. The overall length of the bike is 2050 mm and width 785 mm. The bike has carburettor fuel system.
