"Our present capacity is 0.85 million tonnes per annum. This will be increased to 1.1 MT by investing Rs 1,600 crore at the existing plant," VP (corporate affairs) G K Saran told reporters here today.

He said the company has 400 acres of land at Jamuria, and the money will be spent on capacity expansion, pelletisation plants and induction furnaces.

The expansion project is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

The company, with a present turnover of Rs 1,000 crore, also has a 53-MW captive power plant.

Upon expansion, turnover of the company will touch Rs 1,600 crore, Saran said.

Super Smelters today launched a TMT bar in collaboration with AIC-Capitanio of Italy.

Saran said the company has its own coal linkage and iron ore is being sourced from Jharkhand and Odisha.

"We intend to have our own iron ore mines in future," he said.
