Super-Max, second largest brand of razors globally, by volume, relocated its headquarters to Dubai from London last week. The company, present in 140 countries, inaugurated its global distribution headquarters in Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA) last week.

Super-Max’s facility in JAFZA is spread over 50, 000 square feet and likely to be completed in 2011. The company has invested more than 100 million AED in the Dubai facility.

Ajay Bindroo, group CEO, Wesley International, global distributors of Super-Max, said, “Dubai is among the world’s most advantageous platforms for business and development today. Our move from London to Dubai is a strategic decision based on lucrative opportunities offered by this market.”

Regarding its India plans, Super-Max intends to fetch revenues to the tune of Rs 1000 crore in the next 3 to 5 years. The Indian market value for blades is said to be over $200 million per annum, as of 2009 and has shown a double-digit growth for the last 5 years. 95% of the market consists of double-edged blades.

In India, Super-Max has three facilities, in Thane, Hyderabad and Himachal Pradesh. The company maintains that in the next one year, the most crucial part in the Indian market would be to focus on distribution.(The writer was in Dubai at the invitation of Super-Max)
