Sugar registered a rise of Rs 20 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following increased buying by stockists and bulk consumers amid pause in supplies from mills.

Marketmen said restricted supplies from mills against brisk buying by stockists and bulk consumers to meet festive demand, mainly pushed up sweetener's prices.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices enquired higher by Rs 10 each to settle at Rs 3,980-4,080 and Rs 3,970-4,070 per quintal.

Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 also quoted higher by Rs 20 each to Rs 3,630-3,790 and Rs 3,620-3,780 per quintal.

In the mill gate section, sugar Asmoli and Anupshaher gained by Rs 20 each to Rs 3,770 and Rs 3,630 per quintal.

Prices of Dorala, Budhana, Thanabhavan, Dhanora, Dhampur, Shamili and Sakoti also moved up by Rs 10 each to Rs 3,750, Rs 3,740, Rs 3,735, Rs 3,725, Rs 3,700, Rs 3,705 and Rs 3,700 per quintal.
