A 20 year old girl pursuing her Chartered Accountancy articleship received severe head injuries- requiring five stitches- after she was a hit by a stone thrown at a train between Mahim and Matunga The incident happened around 8 pm on Saturday.

The girl, Suvidha Sunderraj, had boarded the Churchgate-bound train at Mahim station and was hit on the head when the train was barely 100 metres outside Matunga station. Dharavi-resident Suvidha usually boards the train at Mahim, gets down at Dadar and takes a local to Sion.

"It was very painful and there was blood all over. But the station officials and railway police helped me immediately and five minutes after administering firat-aid took me to Sion hospital," Suvidha told dna over phone. 

Suvidha said that she hoped railway authorities and police would ensure the menace is rooted out once and for all.

" It could have been far worse. Hope it doesn't happen to any other commuter" said Suvidha.
