MUMBAI: The Bombay Stock Exchange Sensitive index rose by 95.91 points in early trade on sustained buying by foreign and domestic funds in blue-chip stocks.

The BSE index that had been volatile recently and had gained nearly 500 points in the last five trading sessions was up by another 95.91 points at 12,443.54 in the first five minutes of trading on Friday.

Similarly, the Nifty on the wide-based National Stock Exchange rose 24.05 points at 3672.45.

Reliance Industries stocks continued to remain the front-runner due the company's strong fundamentals and traded Rs 1095 higher at Rs 15.85.

Other major gainers were Larsen, Infosys, Grasim, Satyam computer, Reliance ind, Tata motor and Wipro.
