MUMBAI: The benchmark BSE Sensex lost 273 points and ended below the 13,000-level on Friday on heavy selling by funds sparked by a weakening trend on the global front.
 
The market, which has been under selling pressure for the past few days, plunged 273.42 points, or 2.08 per cent, at 12,886.13 on heavy selling by funds in index heavy stocks, particularly capital goods and information technology segments. It touched the day's high of 13,254.03 and a low of 12,736.75 points.
 
Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty dropped by 84.45 points at 3,726.75 on all-round selling. It also remained volatile and moved between 3,842.05 and 3,711.05 points.
