U K Sinha, Chairmanm, Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi), has inaugurated Bandhan Bank's 600th branch in Prabhadevi in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Bandhan Bank is the first micro-finance entity in India that was given an approval to convert into a universal bank. 

When Bandhan Bank opened in August this year, it did so with 501 branches in the country, in one go. 

The Prabhadevi branch is Bandhan Bank's 31st branch across 11 districts in Maharashtra, the company press release said. Bandhan Bank has 106 Door Step Service Centres (DSCs) in Maharashtra too.

The bank, headquartered in Kolkata, has two divisions -- micro banking and general banking -- offering complete retail financial solutions, including a variety of savings and loan products.

At present, the bank operates across 27 Indian states through a network of 600 branches and 183 Automated Teller Machines â€‹(ATMs) and has more than 20, 000 employees.
