Samsung Electronics is eyeing 10-15% of its sales from the Note range of products in the Indian market.
Samsung Electronics is eyeing 10-15% of its sales from the Note range of products in the Indian market. The two variants of Note available in the country are said to be garnering significant volumes with several existing smartphone users switching to Note for better functionality.
On Thursday, Samsung launched its phablet Galaxy Note II in the Indian market with a price tag of `39,990. The product would be available from October and for now the company plans to sell it through its own stores. The hybrid smartphone would also be available on a nine-month equated monthly installments (EMIs) without any interest.
“We are not putting any specific number to the volumes that would be achieved through the new offering,” Asim Warsi, vice-president, Samsung Mobile, said.
Galaxy Note II was launched in Korea on Wedenesday and India is the second country to see the product hit the stores ahead of a scheduled launch in the UK sometime later.
“We launched our first Note almost a year back and have sold about 10 million units so far. Samsung currently has about 49% share in the smartphone market and the Note series has been propelling the highend smartphone market. While we expect about 10-15% of the India sales to accrue from the Note products, the launch of new Galaxy Note II is also expected to help expand the high-end smartphones market in the country,” Warsi said.
Galaxy Note II features a 5.5-inch HD super Amoled screen for more details in visuals. With a 1.6 GHz quad-core processor and the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, Samsung claims that it would offer enhanced performance in content creation, sharing and multitasking.
Samsung has also exhibited its Smart Camera that is expected to hit the market in the next 30 days.
“This device would take the camera into the realm of connectivity. The Samsung Smart Camera has an Android 4.1 OS and can access about six lakh apps. The camera is also a 3G device and has a SIM card tray with an ability to access wi-fi,” Warsi said.
