The rupee appreciated by 32 paise to 62.19 against the US dollar in early trade on Wednesday at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market on increased selling of the American currency.

Besides strengthening of the euro against the dollar in overseas market, a higher opening in the domestic equity market supported the rupee, forex dealers said.

The rupee had gained 59 paise, its biggest gain in over two months, to close at 62.51 in the previous session on heavy dollar selling as emerging market currencies scripted a rebound.

The benchmark BSE Sensex rose 145.17 points, or 0.70 per cent, to 20,828.68 in early trade on Wednesday.
