Forex dealers said that besides selling of the American currency, a higher opening in the domestic equity market and weakness of the dollar against other currencies supported the rupee.

On Friday, the rupee had lost 11 paise at 66.54 against the US dollar on sustained demand for the American currency from banks and importers amid a higher greenback overseas.

Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex rose 96.66 points, or 0.38%, to 25,706.87 in early trade today.
