Retail inflation for workers eases to 9.14%
The largest contribution to the index's fall came from vegetables and fruits with a decline in prices of 4.38%, contributing 0.67 percentage points of decline in the overall index, the Union labour ministry said.
Retail inflation for industrial workers declined to 9.14% in September as compared to 10.31% in August owing to easing of the prices of vegetables and fruits, according to official data released today.
Inflation measured in terms of the consumer price index for industrial workers (CPI-IW) was recorded at 10.06% in September 2011.
The largest contribution to the index's fall came from vegetables and fruits with a decline in prices of 4.38%, contributing 0.67 percentage points of decline in the overall index, the Union ministry of labour and employment said in a statement.
"The main downward pressure came from tomato, chillies, green apple and banana," it said.
Food inflation declined to 11% in September as compared to 12.20% in the previous month. Food inflation was recorded at 8.29% during the corresponding month of 2011.
