The company has ramped up the production capacity at its Chennai plant to meet the growing demand for the product, Renault has said in its statement.
Automaker Renault has reported an over two-fold jump in sales to 8,834 units in February as against 3,419 units sold in the same month last year.
Renault Kwid continues to play a pivotal role in the company's expansion plans in India with customer orders crossing the 1,00,000 mark, Renault India said in a statement.
The company has ramped up the production capacity at its Chennai plant to meet the growing demand for the product, it added.
French car major Renault in February this year had said it expects to double sales during the current year on the back of strong performance forecast of its newly-launched Kwid.
"Last year, we sold over 54,000 units (all brands). This year, we expect to double the figure. We will cross one lakh units by the end of the year (2016). Overwhelming response for Kwid and also new Duster launch are expected to push sales.By the end of next month, we will touch 10,000 units of Kwid. This month, we intend to sell 7,500," Sumit Sawhney, CEO and MD of Renault India had told reporters in February.
