KOLKATA: Reliance Retail plans to set up 30 hypermarkets across the country in the next few months, but West Bengal was not among the states being considered for setting up this format stores, a company official said today.

"We are planning 30 hypermarkets across the country by 2008," Reliance Retail president & CEO (lifestyle division) Bijou Kurien said here today on the sidelines of a function.

He, however, said West Bengal did not fall in the plan up to 2008.

There was no change in stand by the company on opening of Reliance Fresh stores in the state. A few months ago the company had put on hold opening of retail stores following attacks on outlets.

The Mukesh Ambani company had earlier planned to invest Rs 2,500 crore in the state for agri-retail infrastructure which includes 100 retail stores, five distribution hubs and a few collection centres.
