Reliance Industries' Chairman Mukesh Ambani has finally announced a launch date for Reliance Jio. In the annual shareholders' meeting on Thursday, as was expected, the Reliance Industries' chairman spoke extensively about Jio.
Ambani said that Jio will never charge for voice calls and messages and its data tariff will be the lowest in the world.
In the shareholders' meet, in a departure from the usual few words on Jio, Ambani's speech was filled with superlatives about Reliance Jio, where he made several announcements about the services it will offer, and how it will change the face of India in terms of data and telecom services.
Here are 10 things Mukesh Ambani said about Reliance Jio:
> Reliance Jio will realise India's digital dream. It will fulfil Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Digital India vision.
> Reliance Jio will ensure that Indians have highest quantity and quality of data connectivity at an affordable price.
> Every Indian is used to Gandhigiri, now every Indian can do 'datagiri', which is an opportunity to do unlimited good things with unlimited data.
> Reliance Jio is built to speak Internet Protocol (IP). Most telecom providers haven't built their network for data or Internet, they have built it for voice calls. With the revolution of Internet, they have had to retrofit IP.
> India's digital mother tongue will be Jio's IP
> Reliance Jio's network is the most extensive and future proof network in the world.
> Today Reliance Jio is available in 18000 cities and towns and two lakh villages. By March 2017, we will cover 90% of India's population.
> Reliance Jio is 1st mobile network in the country that is 4G LTE. It is the largest 4G LTE network in the world. We have deployed largest 100% Voice over LTE network. We will only have 4G services. Not 3G, not 2G, not sometimes 4G.
> Reliance Jio will transform India from highest tariff market to the lowest, anywhere in the world.
