The newest and the now the fastest growing telecom player in the country, Reliance Jio has extended its promotional offer of free data and voice calls till March 31, 2017.
In a live address, Reliance Industries' chairman Mukesh Ambani told the public that all new Jio customers will get free voice, data and video access for free till March 31, extending the promotional offer that was slated to expire on December 31.
Ambani said, "From December 4, new Jio customers will get data, voice, video free till March 31."
Reliance Jio extended the free promotional services for all its existing 52 million customers also.
When Reliance Jio was launched on September 5, Ambani, in a similar address, had announced free domestic voice calls and data for all its new customers.
In the address, Ambani thanked Jio's customers for "reinforcing our belief in India's digital appetite." He said that an average Jio customer used 25 times more data than an average customer.
In the live address, he also spoke about the inter-connectivity problem that the new telecom player was facing with the incumbent players like Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India, Idea Cellular. He said, in the three months, 900 crore calls were blocked by the incumbent players but "as of yesterday, the call block problem had come down to 20% from 90%." This will come down to further to 0.2%.
Ambani also congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his "bold" demonetization move to decommission the use of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes.
