BANGALORE: Aero engine maker Pratt & Whitney has firmed up plans to outsource over $100 million worth of components and design work to Indian vendors over the next five years. It will expand its relationship with Larsen and Toubro (L&T), Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), Infotech Enterprises Ltd (IEL) and Tata Advanced Materials Ltd (TAML) to outsource engine components, tools, design analysis work and composites.

“Our objective is to increase the business to over $100 million over the next five years,” Pratt &Whitney India managing director Sandeep Saini told DNA Money.

Saini said the company was already outsourcing design analysis work and engineering services to Hyderabad-based IEL, while sourcing composites for aero engines from Bangalore-based TAML. He did not reveal the value of work currently being outsourced to Indian companies.

The engine maker’s parent, US-based aerospace major United Technologies, holds a majority 51% stake in Infotech Aerospace Services Inc, a subsidiary of IEL with which it has had a relationship for over five years. Infotech, which earns nearly 40% of its revenues in the aerospace domain, recently opened a facility in Bangalore to house over 450 professionals with a focus on supporting the operations group of the Canadian unit of Pratt & Whitney.
