Agrochemical company PI Industries and global chemicals firm BASF today entered into a strategic partnership to offer a broader portfolio of crop protection solutions to farmers.

PI Industries will market BASF's fungicide solutions for rice, maize, fruits and vegetables as well as a new herbicide for maize.

Following this partnership, both the companies aim to enhance their market participation in these crops segments, a joint statement issued here said.

"BASF and PI Industries have been working as partners in crop protection for the past two decades. We now aim to elevate our relationship to a more strategic level.

PI Industries has a significant footprint in the crop protection market and a strong model for growth," BASF Asia Pacific senior vice-president for crop protection Gustavo Palerosi Carneiro said.

"BASF has a strong portfolio of innovative products.

We believe this strategic partnership will help bring these innovative solutions to farmers to enhance farm productivity and value contribution," PI Industries managing director Mayank Singhal said.

PI Industries has built leading brands over the last 60 years with multi-locational manufacturing facilities, including Jambusar SEZ in Gujarat.
