According to an IANS report, 22 coaches of the Patna Rajdhani will also be rolled out shortly with the tradition Madhubani paintings inside and outside of the coaches.

The initiative is a part of a new trend to promote traditional art on premier services.

Jansadharan Express will also have the traditional Mithila artwork, the report stated.

"There are a total of 100 coaches to be painted with Madhubani art," Danapur Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Ranjan Thakur told IANS.

"With the artwork, Patna Rajdhani will have a unique identity while running between Rajendra Nagar station and New Delhi," said Thakur, and added, "Local artists will get an opportunity to showcase their skill on trains."

According to the report, having Madhubani painting on the coaches costed Railways about Rs 1 lakh per coach.

The idea took root at Madhubani railway station and soon other stations at Patna, Rajendra Nagar and Danapur also followed the widely-appreciated trend.

It should also be noted that Madhubani railway station has also won the award in a station beautification competition last week in a function organised at Rail Bhavan here.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat, who clinched gold medals at the ongoing 18th edition of the Asian Games in Jakarta, would be promoted to the rank of gazetted officers by the railways, Railway Ministry officials said on Tuesday.

A senior official said that Punia and Phogat would be promoted to officer rank as per railway rules.

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal had approved a new policy for promotion of railway sportspersons, whereby, in addition to the sportspersons who won a position or medal in the Olympics, all those sportspersons and coaches who have been awarded Padma Shri will be promoted as officers.
