The government has spent Rs 1,066.51 crore on advertisements in the current fiscal till March 17, the Lok Sabha was informed today.

In a written reply, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore said Rs 423.77 crore was spent on print media in 2016-17 upto March 17.

He said, another Rs 509.83 crore were spent on advertisements through electronic media and Rs 132.91 crore throught outdoor publicity like boards.

The Minister also said that the Directorate of Advertising & Visual Publicity (DAVP) has empanelled agencies for conducting impact assessment of the advertisements.

The same is carried out on the requirement of concerned client ministries, he added.
