Over 12 lakh Railway employees set to get Rs 18,000 as bonus: Report

In a good news for Indian Railways employees, they are likely to get 78 days wages as bonus. This formula has been proposed by Railway Board as productivity-linked bonus (PLB). Railway board after detailed consulation with all stake holders including unions have come up with this proposal. Currently, it is waiting for consideration from the union cabinet and is likely to be green signalled shortly according to IANS report. 

In total, 12.26 lakh employees will get this bonus. National Federation of Indian Railwaymen General Secretary M. Raghavaiah has been quoted as saying that, " We had demanded an 80-day bonus. But finally, we agreed on 78 days." For the last six years, bonus of 78 days wage has been given to the employees. This year too Railway is following the same formula. This bonus will cost exchequer around Rs 2,000 crore. Each eligible worker will be getting around Rs 18,000 as bonus, which is bound to make them happy as the festive season has just kicked in. The bonus is expected to be announced during the Navaratri period, making it even more sweeter for the hardworking railways employees.
