MUMBAI: Oberois Flight Services, a division of East India Hotels (EIH) Ltd, has decided to beef up its flight catering capacity by adding a second facility in Tamil Nadu.

The new unit, which will get operational by August this year, will have a capacity to handle 6,000 meals a day, confirmed a source. The company’s new facility is coming up at Pallavaram, around 3.5 kms away from the Chennai airport.

In order to extend its network in the country, the company recently launched its first flight service operation in Bangalore. With these new additions, Oberois Flight Services now has operations in Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata and Bangalore.

As was reported by DNA Money in a May 19 report, P R S Oberoi, chairman, EIH Ltd, confirmed the development saying, “We shall be announcing several new hotels in the next few months.”

EIH Ltd has posted a 221% increase in profit after tax and extraordinary items at Rs 188.80 crore for the fiscal 2005-2006.
