Non-subsidised LPG cylinder prices increased for second consecutive month

In Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai, prices were increased by Rs 4.50, Rs 3.50, Rs 4 per cylinder, respectively

The price of 14.2 kg non-subsidised LPG cylinder was increased by Re 1 in Delhi by oil marketing companies on Wednesday.

The price of 14.2-kilogram cylinder of non-subsidised LPG gas in Delhi will now be Rs 594 per cylinder, which was previously priced at Rs 593 on June 1.

In other metro cities--the price was hiked to 620.50 in Kolkata, Rs 594 in Mumbai, and  Rs 610.50 in Chennai.

In Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai, prices were increased by Rs 4.50, Rs 3.50, Rs 4 per cylinder, respectively in the three metro cities.

The government currently subsidises 12 cylinders of 14.2 kilograms each per household in a year. Additional purchases have to be made at the market price.

The oil companies also revised upwards the price of aviation turbine fuel by about 7.5 per cent to Rs 41,992.81 per kl in the national capital, according to a price notification by Indian Oil Corporation (IOC). The ATF prices increased twice in June by a record 56.6 per cent or Rs 12,126.75 per kl on June 1, and by Rs 5,494.5 per kl or 16.3 per cent increase on June 16. The increase in July is by Rs 2,922.94 per kl.

Earlier, on June 27, the oil marketing companies hiked fuel prices for the 21st day in a row on Saturday.

Petrol and diesel will now cost Rs 80.38/litre and Rs 80.40/litre respectively in the national capital.

The price of petrol is increased by Rs 0.25 per litre while that of diesel by Rs 0.21 per litre.

Rates differ from state to state depending on the incidence of value-added tax (VAT).

These firms on June 7 restarted revising prices in line with costs.

The Congress party had called the increase in the price of petrol and diesel 'unjust', 'thoughtless' and demanded from the Central government to roll back increase with immediate effect and pass on the benefit of low oil prices directly to the citizens of this country.
