Auto giant Nissan Motors today unveiled its new global sedan at the 8th China International Auto Exhibition.

The model will be launched in China in January 2011 followed by India in the second-half of the next year. The new car will be built at Nissan's Chennai facility, the company said in a statement.

In China, the sedan will be named 'Sunny'. Specifications, along with the model name for India will be announced closer to the launch date, the company said.

The Japanese firm plans to progressively launch the sedan across 170 countries under different vehicle brand names.

"Following the success of our first locally made car, Nissan Micra, we are confident that the new global sedan, will delight the discerning Indian customers," Nissan Motors India Managing Director and CEO Kiminobu Tokuyama said.

The company, which inaugurated its manufacturing facility at Oragadam near Chennai along with its joint venture partner Renault at an investment of Rs4,500 crore over a seven-year period, has a capacity of 2 lakh units.

The company, in July, began producing the Micra range of vehicles in the domestic and overseas markets.
